ECG Changes

Hypokalemia

  1. ST depression
  2. Flattened/Inverted T wave
  3. Prominent U wave
  4. Prolonged PR interval
  5. SA block(rarely)

Hyperkalemia

Early:Increased T wave amplitude/peaked T wave

Late(with severe hyperkalemia)

  1. Prolonged PR interval
  2. Prolonged QRS duration
  3. AV conduction delay
  4. Loss of P waves
  5. Sine wave pattern
  6. Ventricular fibrillation/asystole

QT shortening

  1. Hypercalcemia
  2. Digitalis therapy
  3. Vagal stimulation
  4. Hyperthermia

QT prolongation

  1. Acute rheumatic carditis
  2. Myocarditis
  3. Acute MI
  4. CVA
  5. Hypothermia
  6. Hypocalcemia
  7. Quinidine
  8. Procainamide
  9. Disopyramide
