Lewis triple response

Lewis triple response is the characteristic three part response that develops when a line is made by a pointed object(a key)on the skin.It is produced due to the release of histamine, the components of this triple response are:

1.Red reaction-red line(transient local vasodilation due to histamine)

2.Flare-spreading redness extending beyond the red line(due to axon reflex)

3.Wheal-Swelling/localised edema in the region of the redline(increased capillary permeability due to histamine release)
